The Plant Based Certification branch of our company is responsible for controlling and certifying Plant Based management systems. It supports the development of Plant Based alternatives, including products, and promotes more accountable consumer behaviour towards animals.
Our Plant Based branch has developed its regulations to help businesses ensure and communicate the authenticity of their plant-origin products, responding to the high consumer demand in the market.
We simplify the certification process, ensuring your products meet the highest standards of sustainability and compliance.
The certification process begins when an interested business submits the Application Form online. This form gathers details about the applicant, the application itself, and the certification sought. It also requires information about the products to be certified, particularly the list of ingredients (evidence is usually requested).
and for categories like clothing and footwear, the standard form may not be applicable, and you should contact Certify Plant Based for an additional Application Form.
After submitting the application and making a payment through the online payment system, the applicant's business is integrated into the Certification System of Certify Standards Ltd. The application will only proceed and be reviewed after the Terms and Conditions of the system are accepted.
After applying for Plant Based certification, the submitted application will be reviewed, and details regarding the compliance of product ingredients will be assessed. If the application is incomplete or additional information is required for integration, further details will be requested.
If a product's initial certification requirements are not met (e.g., the presence of animal-origin ingredients), it will be excluded. If an application is rejected, the applicant will receive a written explanation detailing the reasons for non-integration into the certification system.
Following this, inspectors from the Certification Department will be notified, and the new business will be recorded in the Certification System Database.
For Plant Based Certification, while no on-site inspection is conducted, additional inquiries may be made if the ingredients and processes are not adequately defined or if the reviewing inspector has specific questions.
Upon receiving the documentation, the evaluator assesses the integrity of the application and its related records, including the accuracy of the non-conformities mentioned and the effectiveness of the corrective actions implemented by the business.
If the compliance decision is favourable, a Certificate of Conformity is issued. This certificate assures that the client adheres to the principles and requirements of the current regulations, confirming the authenticity of the products. The certificate is granted exclusively to the business it covers and allows the use of the specific Certification Mark for which it was certified, under the conditions outlined in the regulations for logo and certificate use.
The certificate is valid for a maximum of 12 months, though this period may vary depending on the product or service.
After a maximum period of 12 months, an inquiry for renewal is initiated with a Renewal Application for Recertification. This process is followed by the issuance of an updated Certificate.
Maintaining certification requires ongoing compliance with both the general and specific requirements of the regulation.
The following systems form the basis of the Certify Plant Based system and are relevant for certification applications:
In addition to the documents mentioned above, relevant decisions and regulations of the European Commission concerning both foods in general and specifically the labelling of vegan or Plant Based products are also taken into account.
The Certification applies to the following categories:
